Edward’s wife encouraged him to come to Goodwill in hopes that he could receive assistance with his job search. He had served in the military so Edward started his Goodwill journey with the Veterans Services program. He was later referred to Career Connections which led him to the EDGE program. The EDGE (Employment Development Generates Enrichment) program is a paid work experience opportunity to assist those with significant barriers to employment in gaining meaningful work.

As an EDGE participant, Edward works part-time in a Goodwill retail store sorting books. Like the books that he sorts, Edward’s life has had many chapters. As a young man, he was in the Marines and studied aerospace. He has traveled all over the United States and even owned his own business. All those paths led Edward to Goodwill and a new opportunity to find work that would help him begin writing the next chapter in his story.
