North Carolina residents who want to enroll in Medicaid will have the opportunity as part of Care4Carolina’s upcoming “Get Covered” event hosted by Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina on Friday, April 12. The events will include free lunch, vendors, guest speakers – including North Carolina Representative Donny Lambeth – and Medicaid enrollment assistants to help walk residents through the enrollment process.

WHAT: Get Covered Enrollment Event – Winston-Salem

WHEN: Friday, April 12 – Event starts at 10 a.m.

WHERE: Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina Headquarters, Self Reliance Hall – 2701 University Parkway, Winston-Salem

WHO: N.C. State Representative Donny Lambeth, Kate B. Reynolds Charitable Trust Vice President of Programs Adam Linker, Care4Carolina Executive Director Abby Emanuelson

Medicaid expansion officially kicked off in North Carolina on Dec. 1, 2023, following a decade-long grassroots advocacy campaign led by statewide nonpartisan coalition Care4Carolina. With expansion, North Carolinians between the ages of 19 and 64 with household incomes of 138 percent of the federal poverty level may qualify. This means single adults making less than $20,120 a year or families of four making less than $41,400 a year could be eligible to receive coverage that includes primary care, hospital services, prescriptions, dental and behavioral health.
