This spring, Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina has a new addition to its employment and career services: Goodwill on the Go mobile career center.

The mobile unit will visit sites throughout the 31 counties of western North Carolina that Goodwill serves. A complete schedule of its visits can be found at GoodwillOnTheGo.org.

Goodwill on the Go will offer many of the same career services as Goodwill’s brick-and-mortar career centers. Goodwill Career Navigators will be on-site to provide free career portfolio services to aid people in their job searches, including:

  • Resume-writing assistance
  • Skills assessment
  • Career coaching
  • Access to computers and Wi-Fi
  • Help with interviewing skills
  • Job placement services
  • Assistance with educational resources

“Currently, Goodwill offers career services at more than 20 locations in western North Carolina in partnership with local workforce boards and our local community colleges,” said Deon Carter, Goodwill’s Associate Vice President of Mission Advancement. “This mobile career center will allow us to reach areas that have been underserved, particularly rural areas, and give those residents access to education and employment services they need.”

Last year, Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina provided career services to nearly 33,000 people. In addition to its career centers, Goodwill offers specialized employment programs for veterans, individuals with differing abilities, youth, people with justice-involved backgrounds, and displaced workers.
