Career Quest Series Launches January 28

The COVID-19 pandemic has many job seekers thinking about how to find work in a different field. But often they’re not sure how get their foot in the door. Career Quest, a free webinar series offered by Goodwill Industries of Northwest NC, gives job seekers an opportunity to explore new careers by hearing directly from professionals in industries such as healthcare, manufacturing, skilled trades, retail, services, and hospitality.

The Career Quest series kicks off on Thursday, Jan. 28, at 10 a.m. with guest speakers Amanda Nix (quality manager) and John Russler (plant manager) of Eaton Corporation. Eaton Corporation is a global technology leader in electrical systems for power quality, distribution, and control with more than 3,600 employees in North Carolina across 18 facilities and offices statewide. The presenters will discuss Quality as the driving force in modern manufacturing and how it has helped define the culture at Eaton Corporation.

“Job seekers often have preconceived ideas about what it’s like to work in manufacturing, hospitality or other industries, and that discourages them from applying for those jobs,” says Goodwill Skills Training Manager Jody Stevenson. “With Career Quest, people can get an inside look at these industries, ask questions, and learn of career paths they didn’t know about.”

Future Career Quest discussions will include representatives from Asheville Hotel Group and Emerson Automation Solutions. Webinars are free, but pre-registration is required. Click here to learn more and sign up for a webinar.

“Goodwill is also seeking employers and industry experts to present in future Career Quest webinars,” Stevenson said. “These events offer opportunities to showcase your workplace, advertise open positions, and dispel myths about jobs in your industries. Employers can email careers@goodwillnwnc.org to learn more about this opportunity.”
