Start the New Year by Saving Money at Goodwill

This is the season for making New Year’s resolutions.  For some of us that means losing weight, for others it’s about not smoking.  But nearly all of us want to save money in the New Year, especially when it comes to purchasing clothes.

“Most families spend about $150 per month on clothing, which translates to over $1,800 per year.  Fortunately, Goodwill can help reduce those costs considerably,” said Jaymie Eichorn, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina.

“Most folks are surprised when they visit our retail stores, because we have the latest name brand clothing for kids as well as adults, and we have new items too in both clothing and household items and all at affordable prices”.

Today a man’s suit or a woman’s dress can cost hundreds of dollars, but at Goodwill stores, many fashionable suits sell for under 10 dollars. Most children’s clothing items are just $2.29 per piece.

“This is a great time to shop at Goodwill because our donated inventory is much higher during the holiday season,” said Eichorn.

Goodwill also offers tips on building a wardrobe:
•    When selecting an outfit, start with a solid color that’s always in style, like black, navy blue or gray.
•    Buy clothes made of durable material, such as cotton or wool.
•    Then, add bright color accessories that contrast with solid colored suits and dresses.
