Goodwill Provides Experience for Hospitality Jobs

Anyone seeking a career in the hospitality industry can now get a head start, thanks to a new program offered through Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina, and the Intercontinental Hotel Group (IHG).

“This job shadow program gives participants a unique opportunity to learn firsthand about the hospitality industry, and it allows hotel executives to observe potential employees.  It’s a win/win for everyone,” said Kimberly Stowe, Goodwill Skills Training Coordinator.

The Goodwill IHG Academy offers a number of benefits for employers, including pre-screening opportunities, and extra employee recruiting support.  Benefits to participants include providing them with a forum for showcasing their interpersonal skills, and learning how to perform in a variety of positions.

The job shadow experience is three hours long and includes an employer assessment or feedback to the participant.

“We already have commitments from our hotel partners, so now we’re looking for people who are interested in pursuing a career in the hospitality industry, and  would like to benefit from participating in the Academy”, said Ms. Stowe.

To register, or for more information, contact Stephanie Rerych, Skills Training & IHG Recruiter at (828) 298-9023, extension 1106, or visit the Goodwill Career Center, located at 1616 Patton Avenue in Asheville.
