Goodwill Plans Fashion Show May 15 in Lexington

Finding appropriate clothing to wear to job interviews can be a major hurdle for someone who is looking for a new job. Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina’s Business Advisory Council is helping meet that need with an upcoming event in Lexington.

The 2nd Annual Success Outfitters fashion show, set for May 15, will feature fashionable and affordable attire that’s appropriate for interviews and the workplace. The event will also include resource agencies offering valuable information about their services and local employers that are actively hiring. The event includes a light lunch and is free to the public.

What: 2nd Annual Success Outfitters Fashion Show
When: Friday, May 15, 11 a.m.-1 p.m.
Where: Lexington National Guard Armory, 201 W. 9th Ave, Lexington
Presented by: Goodwill’s Davidson County Career Connections Center and Goodwill’s Business Advisory Council

“It’s very common for someone who is looking for a job to struggle with finding appropriate clothing,” said Sheila Padrick, director of Goodwill’s Davidson County Career Connections Center. “And for someone who’s unemployed or just starting a new job, the thought of spending money on a whole new wardrobe is scary. Our event will demonstrate not only what types of dress are and aren’t right for the workplace, but how easy it can be to find quality, fashionable clothing and accessories without breaking the bank.”

“Our Dress for Success for Less event is important because it’s a great way to reach out to our community, educate them and shine a light on Goodwill,” said Jayanna Nichols, Project SAFE Davidson Coordinator with the Lexington Police Department and BAC member. “It is important to show others that being properly dressed for an interview is important and doesn’t need to be expensive.  The positive thing about Goodwill is that anyone can afford to shop there. If two show up to a job interview and one is nicely dressed and the other isn’t…which one will probably get the job? We all know the answer to that question. “
