Create an Affordable Halloween Costume at Goodwill

Halloween is just around the corner, and Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina is ready to help you dress up for the big night.

Want to look like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man, or portray your favorite cast member from “The Walking Dead”?  No problem.  Goodwill’s retail stores are stocked with thousands of Halloween items, from pre-packaged costumes to a variety of clothing from which you can create your own original fright look.

“All you need is a little time and creativity to find the right pieces for a creepy costume,” said Jaymie Eichorn, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Goodwill.  “And, your purchases will support workforce training, career services, and other programs which help people in our community find jobs and get back on their feet.”

This year, Asheville-based designer McKinney Gough is demonstrating how to make creative Halloween costumes on a budget. She’s challenged herself to build one-of-a-kind costumes with Goodwill items for only $35 total. Click here to view McKinney’s creations and other costume ideas.

“We have everything from vintage dresses to the latest styles, plus shoes, accessories and more,” said Eichorn.  “You can let your imagination run wild without breaking the bank.  Plus, by shopping at Goodwill, you’re helping to get people back to work.  It’s a win/win for everyone.”
