TRAINING CENTERS

Goodwill offers training and placement services at 19 locations across its territory. Services offered vary by location. Goodwill partners with community colleges, the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, the Department of Social Services and other agencies to offer these services. For more information, please call the location nearest you or email info@goodwillnwnc.org.

Career Connections Centers offer free services to help job seekers secure employment including skills assessments, career counseling, resume and cover letter writing, and assistance with applications.  A wealth of employment resources are available at the center such as computers with high-speed internet access and interview simulators. Email connections@goodwillnwnc.org for more information.

College credit courses are available at the Asheville location! Students can begin pursuing credit toward a college degree or diploma at Goodwill Training Center at 1616 Patton Avenue in West Asheville.  Contact Michelle Field, Admissions/Skills Training Coordinator at (828) 298-9023 Ext. 1161 or mfield@goodwillnwnc.org.

Goodwill partners with the Piedmont Triad Regional Council to offer the elink Program under the Workforce Investment Act. The program provides year-round educational and job readiness/placement services for low income youth (16 – 21) with barriers to success. For those on a vocational path, elink provides job readiness training and paid work experiences designed to expose youth to the working world and help them acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to obtain a job. Those on an educational path are assisted in obtaining a high school diploma or GED. elink gives youth the skills and tools necessary to become better educated and better prepared for the future.

Additional services include career planning and preparation, job readiness and job placement. Vocational programs at the center include the elink Youth Program for out-of-school youth, Project Re-entry for individuals recently released from incarceration, and programs for the deaf/hard of hearing. The state-chartered JobLink Center is free and open to the public Mon-Thur 8:00-6:00 and Fri 8:00-5:00. JobLink provides computers with high-speed internet along with support services and resources to help unemployed and underemployed individuals find jobs.
