Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina held a grand opening for its newest retail store in Walkertown on Wednesday, November 28. The store, located at the corner of Highway 158 and NC 66, is designed to the U.S. Green Building Council's stringent LEED standards, which are the national benchmarks for high performance green buildings.
"Goodwill has been in the business of recycling for over 100 years, so building a green facility is a natural extension of our mission", said Jaymie Eichorn, Vice President of Marketing and Communications for Goodwill. "In addition, this new store will help us fund the expansion of employment and training services to meet the growing need in this community.”
Store staff, local officials, and members of Goodwill's executive management team will attend the ribbon cutting ceremony which begins at 8am. Afterwards, customers are invited to browse the vast inventory of clothing, furniture, shoes, toys, and home decor, as well as new items for sale.
At the ribbon cutting ceremony Walkertown mayor Kenneth "Doc" Davis exclaimed "I'll save gas now that Goodwill is open in my town!"
The Walkertown store will be open Monday through Saturday from 8am to 8pm, and on Sunday from 1pm to 6pm.
