Goodwill, Blue Ridge Community College Expanding Healthcare Career Training

Goodwill Industries of Northwest North Carolina, in partnership with Blue Ridge Community College, is offering opportunities for people to pursue a career in healthcare.

On Wednesday, September 19, the two organizations hosted a Career Opportunity Day from 10 a.m. to noon at the Goodwill Career Connections Center, 155 Four Season Mall (next to the NC License Plate and Tag office in Hendersonville).  Individuals interested in a career as a Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) were encouraged to attend and talk with those who are currently working in the field.  A new CNA class started in September at the Center.

"Healthcare is a viable option if you are looking to start down a new career path," said Josh Pierce,  Goodwill Director of Workforce Development Services.  "In fact, there are CNA jobs currently available throughout western North Carolina.”

This course provides basic training in the entry-level caregiving skills needed to work as a Nursing Assistant in various healthcare settings such as nursing homes, hospitals, or private homes.

CNA classes take from five to nine weeks to complete and will be offered at a number of convenient locations, including in Hendersonville, Flat Rock, and Brevard. Financial aid and scholarships are available to qualified applicants.
