Prosperity Center North - Forsyth County

Winston-Salem NC

.

Winston-Salem, NC -   The Career Connections & Prosperity Center North will hold a grand opening and open house on October 12 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. The Center, a United Way of Forsyth County “breakthrough initiative” led by Goodwill Industries in partnership with Consumer Credit Counseling Service, helps families and individuals move toward greater economic stability, higher earnings and home ownership.

The Prosperity Center, a United Way collaborative, is led by Goodwill Industries in partnership with Consumer Credit Counseling Service.  The Center offers free services such as resume-writing assistance, skills assessment, career counseling, access to computers and high-speed internet, help with interviewing skills and financial counseling.

The Center Located at 1253 Liberty St, along the historic Liberty Street Corridor, is the second of its kind in Winston-Salem. The first Prosperity Center opened in 2007 on Waughtown Street and has served hundreds of people in that community.  It is our hope that Prosperity Center North will help people in the Liberty Street community reach financial stability, one step at a time.

“The Center is unique in that it offers a comprehensive package of free services all under one roof,” said Art Gibel, president of Goodwill and spokesperson for the Center. “By partnering with like-minded agencies, we are able to pool resources, strengthen our impact and focus delivery of services to meet the needs of the community.”

The North Winston-Salem site was selected because of a need for these services in this area. Mayor Allen Joines, Congressman Larry Womble, Senator Linda Garrou, City Council Members Vivian Burke and Derwin Montgomery will participate in the ribbon cutting ceremony along with representatives from the founding agencies.  J.W. “Jim” Shaw, Sr., President & Board Chair of Liberty CDC, will be the Master of Ceremonies. The event is open to the public.
