Joanna's Success Story.
Joanna's Success Story
Joanna moved into a group home after her mother suffered a debilitating stoke. The residential director there told Joanna about Goodwill’s Adult Development Vocational Program. Soon, Joanna started taking health and recreation classes to stay active, independent living classes to learn to cook and safely use household appliances, and art classes to express her creativity. Today, Joanna works two jobs—one in Goodwill’s Contract Services Division and one at a local restaurant. She feels good about herself now, and dreams of getting her own apartment and living independently.

COMMUNITY OUTREACH

Goodwill Industries was founded over 100 years ago based on the principle of a “hand up, not a handout”.  Today, this mission is supported through the sale of donated items in Goodwill stores which funds training programs that help people find jobs and reach financial stability.  However, there are times when a temporary handout is necessitated by crisis situations.  Through the Good Neighbor initiative, Goodwill partners with other nonprofit agencies to meet this need in the community.  In order to be considered as a Good Neighbor partner, please complete the form below and send along with a brief explanation of the need on your organization’s letterhead to:
